Abstract
Loyola University Chicago is creating an online resource for faculty to assist with developing blended and online courses. This on-demand guide aims to support faculty with varying levels of technological literacy and pedagogical needs and assists them with integrating technology into their online/blended course in a pedagogically sound manner.
Extended Abstract
This presentation aims to inform attendees of the efforts that the Office of Learning Technologies and Assessment at Loyola University Chicago is using to assist faculty who need help developing online or blended courses. Areas that would be covered include: - A short explanation of how the project was conceived. This will include information on what resources we have available for faculty, what training opportunities have been available for faculty in the past, and why we felt those opportunities were ineffective at assisting faculty with developing blended and online courses. - Our process for making the guide faculty centered by soliciting feedback from instructors throughout the process of the guide's creation. We will cover the strategies we used to manage the project, the methods we used to get formative feedback, and how that feedback affected the development of the guide. - Showing what the guide itself looks like and what kind of content is included. Content will be presented in various formats to address different learning styles, including text based resources (web pages as well as PDF files), short multimedia learning modules, as well as various media clips (video, podcast, etc.). - Discuss the summative feedback that we've received about the guide and discuss our next steps in making this a living, easy-to-update resource.
