Abstract

A personal learning environment puts students in charge of their own learning, encouraging them to select the tools and resources that help them learn best.  By design, a PLE is created from self-direction, and therefore the responsibility for organization, and learning, is an individual responsibility.

This presentation will highlight uses of the Personal Learning Space including:

  • Create wikis, blogs, and podcasts around academic and co-curricular interests.
  • Easily embed external content.
  • Collaborate online with self-organized study groups.
  • Assemble a collection of work across time.
  • Selectively share resumes, projects, and work samples, both within the institution and beyond.
  • Access course work, other personal learning sites, and community group sites from a single vantage point.
