Abstract
This poster will describe two courses in which students at Penn State University and Buskerud University College in Norway cooperated on shared projects. First, students negotiated virtually with students from the other country. A more intense project then involved a shared Entrepreneurship course in a blended learning format.
Extended Abstract
Penn State University and Buskerud University College in Norway cooperated on a shared negotiations project through internet communication. This poster will explain how this assignment was designed and organized, and how other instructors might use similar activities to increase international awareness and provide an added element of diversity to a course. Results of a study on student reaction to this assignment will also be shared. A more intense level of cooperation was required for a shared Entrepreneurship course offered in a blended learning format. Students completed individual assignments and became acquainted with each other via discussion boards and Facebook for 6 weeks before meeting together in Norway for one week. The face-to-face classes focused on group activities, discussion, and collaboration on a mini-business plan. This format provided a study abroad experience for students from Penn State University and the University of Quebec-Montreal who did not have the time or money to travel for a longer period of time. Instructors who wish to provide a similar opportunity for their students may find that they wish to cooperate in future courses with Penn State and Buskerud University College.
