Presentation with The Pennsylvania State University explores the 2 1/2 years of using Secure Online Testing at World Campus and the lessons learned from examining students via the use of online proctoring.
Online secured testing solves many traditional testing problems for distance education programs, including having to send students to testing centers or to find their own proctors, high costs of mailings, fixed and inconvenient testing times, and poor security. Allowing the student to complete an exam where they live, learn or work has proved to be a viable and secure test delivery option. This innovative test delivery method has helped students worldwide advance in their degree programs. Tens of thousands of test takers have successfully completed courses that included secure online exams, and this number is growing exponentially as more and more distance education institutions recognize the value. The data we've gathered on these programs and students validates the increased convenience, all while providing a state-of-the art secure testing environment. The benefits to the school include confidence that the test results can be trusted and are attributed to the right student, which is critical in helping meet the new guidelines in the Higher Education Opportunity Act. This is your opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at how online secured testing works, see research results on the types and numbers of security incidents observed (and what was done about them), as well as hear first-hand testimonials from students. We'll discuss your concerns about implementing an online secured testing program and examine some of the steps for integrating this test administration method into your existing and future courses.
