Abstract
Bryant & Stratton College Online Education has grown rapidly and to support the enrolled students, so has the Student Services Department. Online Education at the college delivers the same personalized environment that is offered at the college's 16 building-based campuses.
Extended Abstract
Delivering a personalized environment for online learners can be a challenge. At Bryant & Stratton College Online Education, the Student Services Department under the leadership of Christine Gaiser, Dean of Student Services offers the same personalized service as students receive at the College's 16 brick and mortar campuses but in a different delivery method. The Orientation and "First Year Experience Seminar" offered to students upon enrollment allows Academic Advisors to interact with students, while delivering the message that they matter. Both of these programs provide to students, academic, online and personal success strategies. Online Education at Bryant & Stratton College has grown rapidly since the Student Services Department was created in 2003. Many programs have been initiated through this growth and include, instant messaging, 24/7 tutoring, 24/7 tech support, virtual library, Portfolio Development Day, Career Mapping, and an online resume, portfolio and interview interaction experience. Each online student is given the opportunity and encouraged to set up an academic advising appointment with their program advisor each semester. Although the appointment does discuss registration and courses needed for graduation, it also offers to the students a myriad of developmental topics that enrich the student's college and career opportunities. This session is designed to offer to the audience an opportunity to learn how Bryant & Stratton College Online Education Student Services Department has expanded to support the enrollment growth.
