Abstract

This session will feature panelist who have made significant contributions to the ongoing national dialogue on the effectiveness of online education. Several recent meta-analytic reviews indicate that online and blended learning environments are as effective, and by some measures more effective, than traditional classroom environments.  However, skepticism and dissent continue to exist.

This panel will review the evidence and critically discuss the challenges associated with understanding distinctions in outcomes between learning environments.  The major goal of the session is to promote understanding about what makes a difference in successful online learning.
