The ability to effectively troubleshoot is perhaps the most important skill that separates an expert from a novice. Because of the difficulty in teaching troubleshooting skills, most instruction is limited to covering the basics of a generic troubleshooting process, with little or no hands-on practice. In this session, we will discuss the characteristics of good troubleshooting, then examine how those principles can be applied to the teaching of troubleshooting skills. The session includes a demonstration of how TestOut uses online labs to give students valuable practice troubleshooting PC hardware repair.
