The lives of today's students are filled with opportunities to communicate, collaborate, and learn at anytime from anywhere through technology. And the demand to use technology to deliver scalable, accessible, economical and engaging learning experiences is growing in our schools. Yet, few schools are prepared to meet the challenges associated with the design and implementation of technology-mediated teaching and learning for high school students.
This presentation describes how Northeastern University's College of Professional Studies new professional development initiative provides teachers with the knowledge and skills essential to design and deliver technology-mediated teaching and learning in the 21st century. Designed specifically for forward-thinking schools that want to embrace this new model for education, but require training in administration, design, development and delivery of technology-mediated learning for K-12 students. This program provides educators with the opportunity to promote excellence in technology-mediated teaching and learning, including curriculum design, administration and instruction.
This professional development is designed specifically to address the needs of secondary schools to meet the goal of creating an institutionally-focused, scalable, high-functioning curriculum and an assessment platform that contextualizes learning through the use of leading edge online education techniques, recognized best practices, and proven methodologies, as applied by leading professionals and educational institutions.
The presentation includes foundations of the model, lessons learned, and visions for the future of online education in the high school arena.
