Beverley M. Taylor, PhD

Beverley Taylor is somewhat of a pioneer in the world of online learning. She used the military system PLATO when she served in the U.S. Navy (1981-1986) and saw the potential for expanding learning opportunities. In the early 90’s at North Metro Tech, she wrote grants that resulted in being the first of 2 technical colleges in Georgia being set up to access the Intranet (PeachNet) and establishing a distance learning program (Georgia Statewide Academic and Medical System – GSAMS). With this access, she recommended a distance learning intervention (NovaNet) that would address the personalized learning needs for adult literacy, developmental English and Math, and self-study courses.
