The Online Learning Lab offers a model for faculty development for blended and online learning environments that combines a reduced cost with maximum benefit for participating institutions. These benefits include a better-trained faculty, practical experiences for graduate students, limited institutional investment, and a continually-improving distributed learning environment.

The presentation will cover the following topics:

* background and rationale

* creating and maintaining a working faculty development system for blended and online learning

* specific job tasks and strategies used by the Lab

* the roles and challenges of managing part-time faculty development staff with high turnover

* the mechanics of working with faculty

* issues of planning, accountability, delivery, and evaluation of Lab activities

* the symbiotic relationship of faculty learning from students teaching
