The Texas Tech Teacher Education Program, in rural Texas, used a blended learning approach to meet the needs of undergraduate, place-bound students who want to become certified teachers. Service learning, incorporation of clinical faculty, online course components, and Saturday intensives, were used to develop a successful teacher education program.

Information will cover overview of blended learning approach for undergraduate courses offered in rural Texas to students enrolled in the Texas Tech University Teacher Education Program. The presentation will provide information on program and course design, including sample course templates used for online development, as well as examples of clinical faculty cooperation for elementary school classroom hours. Service learning components and other elements were incorporated into the courses to enrich the students' learning opportunities, meet the outcomes, and provide varied experiences to insure the students are prepared to become teachers in a diverse environment. The presentation will provide participants with information on challenges we encountered during development and implementation as well as lessons learned for future development.
