Virtual teachers must utilize tools that stimulate, motivate and challenge students. Moodle is a popular online learning environment; but creating an effective Moodle site can be challenging unless you incorporate a variety of resources to provide a wide range of synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities for virtual learners. This session will provide course creators and educators interesting in using Moodle, with a wide variety of options to allow for easier site development. We will look at sample sites that include the use of screencast tutorials, online meetings, and quiz imports. This session takes you beyond just using the Moodle CMS. It incorporates the use of Elluminate for synchronous learning, Camtasia for screencasts, and Respondus for importing quizzes. Join us for an advanced session of online course design while we create an effective virtual learning environment.

Just using Moodle as the environment for virtual learning is not enough. Effective course design must include a variety of resources and modalities. Making the design easier and more effective by using Elluminate, Respondus, and Camtasia brings Moodle course design to a new level. Schools are using Moodle CMS for blended and total virtual instruction. Allowing for students to feel more connected to their teacher using Elluminate; allowing for students to learn faster using Camtasia; and allowing for the course designer to save time in the creation of online quizzes in Moodle will provide our session participants with a valuable experience to provide for a better online learning environment for their students. This presentation will include the incorporation of screencast tutorials in a Moodle site using Camtasia. Participants will view a screencast and understand the process of recording a screencast to enhance their Moodle site. I will demonstrate the use of Elluminate to schedule synchronous learning opportunities to enhance the Moodle environment. Participants will learn how to schedule an online meeting with their students linking to a virtual meeting room in Elluminate. All session attendees will participate in a scheduled meeting to experience the Elluminate environment as it pertains to an effective resource to enhance their online virtual course. Respondus will be demonstrated as a useful tool for the development of quizzes for Moodle sites. This tool saves many hours during the design of exams in Moodle. It is an import program that instantly allows online course designers the option of converting premade quizzes into an easy format for Moodle's Quiz Module. This session is an excellent resource for those who desire a more effective Moodle site.
