UNT's Next Generation Course Redesign™ Project enables faculty to design, create, assess, and revise classes that blend lecture, online learning, and small group experiential learning to enhance SLO's. This workshop will introduce the NGen approach, provide examples of redesigned courses, and encourage participants to begin their own redesign journey.

Transformative course redesign that blends a variety of pedagogies must be a long-term and well-supported effort that enables an expanding Community of Practice. It must include a robust assessment component and evolve constantly based on the results of the assessments. The session will begin by each participant playing a simulation game, "What's the Deal" in which participants take on the role of someone during the Great Depression and strive for dollars and hope. The need for the redesign of undergraduate courses and the research foundation for this redesign will be introduced. The Next Generation Course Redesign™ Process will be introduced and demonstrated.NGen Senior Fellows from Sociology and World Literature courses will describe their redesign experiences, demonstrate components of their blended course, and provide assessment results.Session will conclude with an active learning exercise in which participants in groups brainstorm possible blends of lecture, online, and small group experiential learning to address a given SLO.
