This presentation will describe the creation of a project-based, cross-departmental model for the development and implementation of five blended pilot graduate programs at Long Island University, a private, multi-campus institution in New York.

The specific topics covered in the session will include, firstly, an overview of the Long Island University Web Learning Project (WLP), with an emphasis on the collaboration and engagement of various departments across the University as exemplified by the WLP Steering Committee. In addition to identifying the role and responsibilities of the Steering Committee, the overview will also include a project plan and timeline for AY 2009-2010, and a description of the composition and major responsibilities of the various Project Teams, including: Instructional Design; Library Resources; Outcomes Assessment; Student Support Services; Marketing & Public Relations, and Information Technology. Other major facets of the presentation include a description of the communications plan for the WLP, including the newly launched WLP website, as well as ongoing faculty development efforts to support the first phase (AY 2009-2010) of the WLP via the Blended Learning Faculty Development Workshop Series and other face-to-face and web-based training. Discussion will conclude with institutional lessons learned, next steps in the project, and the role of Sloan-C in supporting this effort. The presentation will be delivered by a team of five administrators and faculty members representing some of the key areas of the WLP project organization.
