We are moving! New dates for the 2013 ET4Online Symposium: April 9-11, 2013. Starting in 2013, the Symposium will be held on spring dates rather than mid-summer. Mark April 9-11 on your 2013 calendar for the upcoming ET4Online Symposium in Las Vegas.

The Emerging Technologies Symposium is devoted to the emerging and innovative uses of technology designed to improve teaching and learning online. The conference focuses on the technologies that drive online learning effectiveness, highlighting research, applications and best practices of important emerging technological tools. We encourage submissions related to instruction, networking, assessment, open educational resources, new media and support services.

Who Should Attend

This conference, which will provide the latest information on emerging technology applications for online learning, is geared to both experienced professionals and interested newcomers to online learning who hail from a variety of work sectors, including higher education, continuing education, business, government, health care, professional associations, and nonprofit organizations.

Attendee Demographics

The symposium brings together individuals interested in the technological aspects of online learning. Experts, intermediate users and novices are welcome to participate in Symposium activities that will include face-to-face and virtual components. The Symposium is geared to experienced professionals and interested newcomers to online learning alike.

Symposium attendance at the 2012 symposium located in Las Vegas, NV attracted 716 onsite and 450 virtual attendees from over 471 institutions, 49 states & territories, and 22 countries representing college level faculty and administrators, instructional technology professionals and instructional designers.

Conference Location

All presentations and  workshops will be held at the Planet Hollywood Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.  This Las Vegas Hotel, the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, is an exciting place to be. Located on the Las Vegas Strip, this Las Vegas Resort offers spacious rooms and bathrooms, as well as nearly three acres of casino entertainment.

Onsite Attendees:

• Watch the Conference Commons Training video. This is an important step to understanding how to access all uploaded materials pre-conference and recorded sessions post-conference.
• Download the program book from the Program page. It will be available 2 weeks before the conference dates. This will provide you full session descriptions. The printed Schedule-at-a-Glance that you will be provided onsite does not include session descriptions.
• Make your hotel reservations.
• Plan to attend the free Thursday afternoon Unconference session as well as the ongoing barcamp sessions during the conference. 
• Join in the conversation – follow the ET4Online Symposium Social networking. Join us on Facebook, Twitter (@et4online and #et4online) and Linkedin.
• Let your colleagues know you are attending the conference. Download an electronic badge for use in your email signature or on your website.
• Review the program schedule prior to departure for Las Vegas; plan how you will use your time at the conference.

10 Fun Things to Do in Vegas

There’s more to Vegas than gambling, although we won’t tell if you want to try your luck. Check out 10 fun things to do during your stay!

1. Cruise the strip and take in the sights. While you’re at it, make sure to visit the Bellagio fountains for a free show featuring over a thousand fountains “dancing” to music.
2. If you’re not sure about hitting the tables, consider taking advantage of free gambling lessons for novices that many of the hotels offer - the Golden Nugget is one of them.
3. For the thrill seeker inside of you, Vegas offers activities like the 108 story SkyJump at the Stratosphere or zip line over the crowds on Fremont Street at Fremont Street Flightlinez. For a real thrill, try swimming with the sharks at the Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay.
4. Interested in the more “colorful past” of the city? Visit The Las Vegas Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement -- aka The Mob Museum.
5. Take in one of the many shows offered including Cirque Du Soleil (six different shows), Blue Man Group, and many others. View all shows playing the week of April 6-13.
6. If you’d rather spend your money on retail therapy as opposed to the casinos, Vegas has options that rival the shopping capitals of the world. Print out the Shop Vegas Passport and redeem it for special discounts and gifts.
7. Go visit the iconic neon signs of yesteryear.  The Neon Museum Boneyard is open during the day and features over 100 donated and rescued signs dating back from the late 1930’s.
8. Explore the quieter side of Vegas and visit the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Fifteen miles outside of the city will land you in a 197,000 acre area for hiking, climbing, horseback riding, picnicking or a 13 mile loop that you can drive to take in the beautiful scenery.
9. Named one of the top 10 construction achievements of the 20th century, the Hoover Dam is worth the 35 mile drive. Visit this attraction that draws over a million visitors a year.
