Abstract

See how Florida State University embraces the second revolution of education with the internet, Google, YouTube, Wikipedia and Mediasite - all tools to engage with a larger audience.

Extended Abstract

The first revolution in education was the development of the printing press, allowing access to a wealth of educational material. We are now immersed in the second revolution facilitated by the internet, Google, YouTube, Wikipedia and Mediasite - all tools to engage with a larger audience. Florida State University and GEOSET use interactive platforms to help foster creativity with young scientists and those with a passion for science.

Lead Presenter

Steve Acquah is a Postdoc in Chemistry at Florida State University where he works with the Nobel Laureate Sir Harold Kroto on carbon nanotube structures to design and make new materials like conductive paper and solar cells. He's also the director of GEOSET and presenter for "Science With Acquah", which means that when he's not in the lab, he's helping produce educational modules for the young and young at heart.
