Abstract

Exploring the "do's and don'ts" of outsourcing, with a special emphasis on the fundamental principles that all institutions should consider when contemplating an outsourced solution.

Extended Abstract

With shrinking budgets, diminished endowments, increased government regulations and competition, more and more accredited institutions are focusing their attention to outsourcing all or some of their online program services and functions. The question becomes, "If you could maintain complete control of the process and brand, why not?" We will explore the "do's and don'ts" of outsourcing in the online education arena with a special emphasis on the fundamental principles that all institutions should consider when contemplating an outsourced solution. This presentation will approach the topic from a real-world, real-time perspective, addressing the type of issues that directly impact every level of the online education process, from the student to the admissions reps to the administrators and executives.
