Join members of the Sloan-C Board of Directors for a panel discussion of scale. Because Sloan-C’s mission is to help institutions maintain and improve quality with scale and breadth, this panel will explore institutional, inter-institutional, and national factors that influence how well we can accommodate growing demand for online education.
Frank Mayadas, founding president of Sloan-C will present the Sloan-C vision for scaling online education. Joel Hartman, Vice Provost for Information Technologies and Resources at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, will describe UCF’s scaling to integrate technology with learning by building infrastructures for information technology, resources and research networks . Robbie Melton, Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs: eLearning Regents Online Campus Collaborative and the Tennessee Board of Regents Executive Director of Educational Technology Initiatives and Innovations, will describe scalable emerging technologies that are transforming institutional capabilities for engaging and retaining learners–such as mobile apps, eReaders, Digital content, eTextbooks, Web2.0,Gaming,Sims,and Virtual Reality. Meg Benke, Sloan-C President and provost and vice president for academic affairs with Empire State College, will introduce methods for greater scalability across institutions via open educational resources and portfolios for prior learning assessment. Janet Poley, CEO and President of the American Distance Education Consortium (ADEC), and Bruce Chaloux, past president of Sloan-C and director of the Electronic Campus of the Southern Regional Education Board and its Adult Learning Campaign, will examine the implications of institutional and national policies as they impact scalability.
