Code red. Syllabi are rapidly transforming into a digital asset that goes beyond the classroom into areas such as assessment, transfer articulation, curriculum development, accreditation, and most importantly better course instruction. This mission will focus on the techniques and technologies needed for the development of a rich and powerful online syllabus repository that supports this syllabus revolution.
The mission begins with a briefing on 21st century syllabus management including template creation, intellectual property, policy development, faculty adoption, and technology considerations. You will then be introduced to a series of technology platforms supporting the trend. Using a "master syllabus" as the theme, we will cover top secret emerging capabilities such as structured syllabi, calendar integration, mobile access, permission application, public views, and section management.
By passing this stage, your security level will be elevated and access to an intelligent syllabus paradigm provided. This will cover two areas of syllabus management that only a handful of other innovative educators have been privy too, until now. It starts with syllabus analytics, including the study of syllabus data such as textbook usage and outcomes reporting to inform instructors, course designers, academic administrators and other decision makers. The mission continues with content integration, recommendation engines, and embedded ratings. In other words, instructors and designers will be presented with an assistive syllabus builder that automatically recommends and assembles dynamic and interactive syllabi.
