As the pressures of increasingly large lecture classes combine with shrinking support staff-- student assessment is often reduced to an anonymous equation in a gradebook. Simultaneously the limitations of one-dimensional assessment schemes are creating pressure to provide multi-dimensional assessment for students in order to differentiate student performance.
