Improvements in learning management systems (LMS) have been steady, yet most institutions report systems are used at less than half of supported capacity. Juxtapose this with growth of Web 2.0 tools, where consumers enjoy "freemium" online services for collaboration and personal productivity. Four years ago, Andrew McAfee coined the term Enterprise 2.0 to describe an emerging trend where consumers take their favorite Web 2.0 tools to work. We are using this framework to introduce the Graziadio Learning Environment and Network (GLEAN) at Pepperdine University. This session highlights our successes, challenges, and lessons learned while questioning the future of the LMS.
