Adobe Presenter in conjunction with Microsoft PowerPoint has been used to create an animated tutorial to explain Lattice Energy. Advantages of using Adobe Presenter to add a narration that further clarifies the simulations will be highlighted. Calculation of Lattice Energy of a solid involves the understanding of several concepts such as (a) Heat of Formation, (b) Heat of vaporization/sublimation of a metal, (c) Heat of dissociation of a non-metal, (d) Ionization of a metal, (e) Electron Affinity of a non-metal, and (f) Lattice Energy. The Born Haber Cycle utilizes these equations to calculate the Lattice energy if heat of formation is known and vice versa. Handouts, explaining how to incorporate audio, video, and quizzes in the PowerPoint will be available to those interested.
