Workshop Description
Introduction: 

The how, when and what of eLearning. These foundational elements are as important as technology when it comes to teaching an asynchronous/synchronous blended class. This first course in this blending learning workshop series explores the “how” and “when” foundational elements through basic online learning engagement, research and basic course construction concepts.

  • Understand best practices in promoting online learning engagement in dual modalities
  • Be introduced to online course organization through backwards design

Carol Johnson, The Virtual School of Music
Carol Johnson serves as a consultant for Sloan-C and is the Director of The Virtual School of Music, an innovative and technologically-based online music school. She is an active technology educator and musician throughout North and South America. Her previous university teaching appointments include Belmont University, Nashville, TN and Taylor University, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, as well as various K-12 public school positions. Currently, Ms. Johnson is completing her Doctor of Musical Arts in e-learning technology. An established educational writer, Ms. Johnson has published numerous music book series for elementary through professional music students.
