Dr. Kaye Shelton Named Winner of the 2012 Edgar L. Morphet Dissertation Award by the National Council of Professors of Educational Administration (NCPEA)
Sloan-C member, Dr. Kaye Shelton has been named winner of the 2012 Edgar L. Morphet Dissertation Award by the National Council of Professors of Educational Administration (NCPEA) for her dissertation titled "A quality scorecard for the administration of online education programs: A Delphi study." This award recognizes significant scholarship in the completion of her dissertation, and it will be presented at the NCPEA Conference in Kansas City in August. The Chair of Dr. Shelton’s committee was Dr. Jody Isernhagen, University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
A mentor for the Sloan-C Institute, Kaye Shelton is an associate professor in education leadership at Lamar University. An interactive version of the Quality Scorecard is available to Sloan-C Institutional Members.
Call for Nominations Open for the 2012 Sloan-C Awards
The Sloan Consortium has recognized outstanding work in the field of online education through an annual awards process since 2001. The deadline for the submission of nominations for all of the 2012 Sloan-C awards is July 15, 2012.
June Cohort of the Sloan-C Certificate Breaks Registration Record
The Sloan Consortium is proud to welcome seventy-nine educators in the June cohort of the Certificate Program! This sequence of one foundation course and three electives leading from the conceptual to the implementation of online learning effectiveness best practices is fast becoming a standard for faculty at many institutions. Eight different specializations based on chosen electives are offered and include Accessibility, Administrative Practices, Blended Teaching and Learning, Design and Delivery, Mobile Learning, Social Media, Tools and Techniques, and STEM.

By completing the Online Teaching Certificate program, Diana was able to achieve her goal of staying proficient and knowledgable as a digital age teaching professional. Diana specialized in Administration as part of her Sloan-C OTC program and completed elective workshops on the topics of fair use and the TEACH act, retention strategies in online education and engaging students with social media.
