Being able to participate in several of the workshops, either mandatory or elective, for the OTC has proven to be both an added value and a challenge. I'm currently a course developer in the Management Domain at the Laureate Higher Education group. In that capacity I develop online undergraduate and graduate level courses for several universities. I've been designing and delivering academic and training courses face-to-face for many years. Over the last 10 years, my focus has been on developing and delivering online synchronous and asynchronous graduate-level courses.
Joining all of you online for this course is really exciting for me since learning about how I can be sensitive to the needs of all learners as I develop course is one of the main reasons I joined the (teaching certificate) program. At work, I'm currently participating on a team to develop several flash applications. I want to investigate options for creating rich multimedia learning environments that remain accessible to students with disabilities.

The Sloan-C Certificate
The Sloan-C Certificate is offered as a sequence of one foundation course and three electives leading from the conceptual to the implementation of online learning effectiveness best practices. The program's theoretical underpinning stems from Sloan-C's five pillars of quality in online education: student satisfaction, access, learning effectiveness, faculty satisfaction, and institutional cost effectiveness.
Pre-requisite: Participants who have less than a year of online teaching experience must take a one-week prerequisite course titled “New to Online: The Essentials."
The Mastery Series Program emphasizes theory and application of research on key topics and culminates in a Recognition of Mastery in a topic. Each series consists of three workshops that help you explore relevant research and use that research to help you design an effective teaching and learning environment.

The Sloan-C Webinar Series
The Sloan-C webinar series includes interactive, 90-minute sessions conducted via the Internet and hosted by online industry experts covering industry hot topics, best practices, and special interests. Webinars provide convenient, affordable continuing education for busy online educators. Participants can sit in their own office and gain access to valuable professional development and networking without taking time off from work or paying travel expenses!
The Sloan-C Special Interest Groups
The Sloan-C special interest groups (SIGs) give members with similar professional specialties the opportunity to exchange ideas and keep themselves informed about current developments in online education. The activities of the SIGs, planned by and for Sloan-C members support the diverse interests and needs of Sloan-C members. Through participation in SIGs, you can help design what, in essence, are small professional networks within the broader organization. Only Sloan-C members can belong to SIGs, though each member can belong to as many SIGs as desired. A list of Sloan-C SIGs and information on how to join a SIG will be available shortly.
