David Edwin Stone has provided leadership in the use of technology in instruction at Southern Polytechnic State University since 2001. Currently, David is the Director of Educational Support and Online Learning at SPSU in which capacity he provides provides vision, leadership, expertise and creativity in the support of distance learning and educational technology at Southern Polytechnic State University.

As a researcher, David has conducted cross-cultural, international research in the use of Second Life in Foreign Language Instruction in China and is interested in the use of technology to improve access to education at a broad scale.

David is completing a Ph.D. in Instructional Technology at Georgia State University where he previously completed a Masters in Instructional Technology. His undergraduate degree is a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science from Southern Polytechnic State University.

Additionally, David has been active in STEM outreach programs for middle and secondary students, including the Georgia BEST Robotics competition, Future City, and Science Olympiad. He has taught workshops for Secondary School teachers, and was a member of the 2004-2006 Cobb County Education Consortium Leadership Academy. David is an Associate Member of the Georgia Digital Innovation Group, a vice president of the Graduates in Instructional Technology Students
(GRITS) organization at Georgia State University, and is a member of the Association for Educational and Communication Technology (AECT).
