The Sloan-C Accessibility Webinar Series 2013 includes four 90-minute webinars. The webinars focus on accessibility, including federal regulations, available resources, invisible disabilities, and effective practices for student and faculty success. Each webinar brings together a panel of administrative leaders, faculty, and students with accessibility expertise from across the United States who will provide individual and collective perspectives to working with students and faculty with disabilities in online education.

Instruction Matters: Purdue Academic Course Transformation (IMPACT) is a successful campus-wide course redesign and faculty development program at Purdue University, a large R1 research university in Indiana. Sponsored by the office of the Provost, it is supported by staff and resources from multiple units across campus, including the Libraries, the Center for Instructional Excellence (CIE), Instructional Technologies at Purdue (ITaP), and Purdue Distance Education (PEC). At the end of 2013, after a 4-year implementation, IMPACT will have helped faculty transform over 90 large foundational courses from all colleges/schools across campus – in the process, working closely with over 100 faculty to do so.The focus of the webinar will be to provide practical applications, nuts and bolts of this innovative faculty development and course redesign program that is IMPACT.

While the higher education world has been focusing on Massively Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and their impact on higher education, interest in competency-based learning continues to build. No longer confined to the province of a few institutions such as Western Governors University and more recently the University of Southern New Hampshire, competency-based degree programs are in the planning stages at the institutional and state levels across the nation. The purpose of this webinar is to examine how online competency-based degree programs are beginning to impact traditional online programs and to share strategies for preparing for these impacts.

Each Mastery Series is focused on creating a quality skill-set in the field of study. Successful completion of a Mastery Series culminates in a Recognition of Mastery in a topic. Each series consists of three workshops that help you explore relevant research and use that research to help you design an effective teaching and learning environment.
