Online Workshop Description: 
Getting Started: The First Step Toward Online Teaching is a prerequisite to The Sloan-C Certificate in Online Education program. This workshop introduces potential faculty and/or administrators to online education fundamentals. You will not only discuss the concepts but use the technologies to gain practical "hands-on" experience.
Schedule: 
Workshop Opens - April 21st. Please introduce yourself and begin reviewing materials
Workshop Orientation - Monday, April 26th at 2pm EST
Workshop Officially Closes - May 7th. All workshop materials will be available through April 21, 2011

Presenter/Panelist Biographies
Biographies of Presenters/Panelists: 

Shari McCurdy Smith is the Associate Director of the Office of Technology-Enhanced Learning (OTEL) at the University of Illinois at Springfield and a facilitator of faculty development workshops for the Sloan Consortium. She has created, developed and taught fully online graduate courses in educational technology. She is an administrative fellow at the University of Illinois and volunteers as an "Elluminate Hero".McCurdy Smith directs grant projects that examine the assessment of learning outcomes and the use of synchronous technologies in online learning. She has presented at numerous technology conferences on topics ranging from best practices in online learning to plagiarism in the electronic classroom. Research interests include: unique delivery and design of online learning, faculty workload and burnout, assessment of online learning, Inter-institutional collaboration, and Web 2.0 applications.
