Online Workshop Description: 
Recognizing quality is much like recognizing art; everybody sees something different. With regard to online courses, your students, faculty, administrators, peers, and accrediting bodies may not know what to look for in assessing quality. Defining quality standards proves crucial to successful course design and implementation.

Presenter/Panelist Biographies
Biographies of Presenters/Panelists: 

Ronald Legon, QM Project Director and Provost Emeritus University of Baltimore Ronald Legon is Executive Director of The Quality Matters Program and Provost Emeritus of the University of Baltimore (UB), where he served as Provost from 1992 to 2003. He also served as Director of the MBNA e-Learning Center at UB, which launched the first AACSB accredited fully online MBA program in 1998, and Director of the Helen P. Denit Honors Program. Over the past 40 years, Dr. Legon has taught history and humanities at Brooklyn College, the University of Illinois at Chicago, the University of Chicago, and, most recently, at UB, where he teaches online, hybrid and face-2-face courses. He has published widely in the field of Greek History and, in recent years, on the subject of online education. Dr. Legon makes frequent presentations regarding the Quality Matters Rubric and process and the accumulating research findings regarding the impact of QM. In recent months, he has presented at Valencia Community College, DeSales University, the University System of Maryland, the Tennessee Board of Regents, the DC Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development and the South Eastern Pennsylvania Consortium for Higher Education.

John Sener is Founder and Chief Learner for Sener Learning Services, a consulting practice focused on supporting the evolution of online and other technology-enabled learning environments.  Current projects include Maryland Online's FIPSE-funded Quality Matters project (http://www.qualitymatters.org), the Maryland Students Online Consortium, and various Sloan Consortium activities.  Sener is a contributing editor for the monthly newsletter Educational Pathways and has served on the Journal of Asynchronous Learning Networks editorial board since its inception.  Sener's 25+ year career in education and training encompasses a unique m?nge of learning experiences. He holds degrees from Johns Hopkins University and Oberlin College.
