The best method to review this tutorial is by listening and watching the Screencast-O-Matic version here: http://www.screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cjlnjmnUe

Script:
Hi, welcome to this brief tutorial which will illustrate how to create a new user account on Sloan-C’s Moodle site. The URL to our Moodle site is: http://community.sloan-c.org. Once there, select the login link found in the upper right hand corner of your screen. On the right, you’ll notice the column which contains new user registration instructions. Please review these instructions. You need to complete the brief new user registration form, you’ll see the link here. Go ahead and complete this short form. I’ve already done so in another tab in my browser. Once completed, submit the form.

An email will be sent to the email address you specified in the form. There will be a link contained within the email to confirm and verify your new user registration. Once selected, you’ll be confirmed.

The courses button will bring you to our category page. Select the 2008 Workshops link, which will actually become 2009 workshops in a few weeks. Here you’ll see a listing of current active workshops.

Now this is important. You need to enter an enrollment key to gain access to the workshop. Typically, in the morning on the first day of a workshop, you’ll receive an email from Sloan-C with your enrollment key. Select either the workshop’s name, or the enrollment key icon seen here to enter the key. You’ll see the entry field here at the bottom of your screen. Once entered, you’ll have access to all workshop materials.

So, in summary

  1. go to http://community.sloan-c.org
  2. select login link (upper right)
  3. complete and submit short form
  4. check email
  5. select link in email to confirm your new account
  6. select 2008, or 2009 Workshops category link to see the currently active workshops
  7. select your workshop’s name, or enrollment key icon and enter your enrollment key in the field provided at the bottom of your screen.

So that’s it, thanks for listening, if you have any further questions, please feel free to email workshops@sloan-c.org.
